Who is the Creative Director of Givenchy? ›

The British designer will be the second woman to oversee collections for the 72-year-old French brand.

Burton, a famously discrete designer with a loyal following and strong design credentials, is known for flattering, deconstructed styles at McQueen, and carrying on the legacy of the label's founder, Lee McQueen following his death. She had worked alongside him for 14 years before becoming creative director in 2010.

Seán McGirr is Creative Director of Alexander McQueen. An Irish national, born in Dublin in 1988, he is a graduate of Central Saint Martins in London, where he obtained a Master of Arts in Fashion in 2014 under the late professor Louise Wilson.

Clare Waight Keller is the creative director of Uniqlo and was Givenchy's first female artistic director. It was announced that she would succeed Riccardo Tisci at the house in March 2017.

The former Alexander McQueen designer fills the vacancy left by Matthew Williams in January. Burton's first show will be for Autumn/Winter 2025 in March.

Burton's departure from McQueen comes as the label's parent company, the French luxury goods group Kering SA, is restructuring. What the future may hold for Burton is unknown, although there is some speculation that she may start her own label.
